Golf Courses

Golf Course Agronomy

Optimize fairways and greens health and growth by measuring soil moisture, temperature and oxygen levels. Minimize the effort and cost of irrigation, and use in tandem with SubAir(TM) where applicable

Turf Fields and Stadiums

Turf Fields and Stadiums

Measure and optimize turf health for sports fields, stadiums and racetracks wirelessly from sensors buried 10-15 cm underground. Integrate measurements with irrigation and field management systems through an API

Agriculture and Crops

Agriculture and Crops

Maximize growth of crops such as strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, and more, by measuring soil and moisture conditions underground. Combine with farm asset management and other digital data to optimize efficiency and margins

Tank Measurement

Tank Measurement

Safely and accurately measure diverse liquids such as water, diesel, liquid fertiliser and more, to optimize your productivity and costs, for multiple tanks simultaneously. Integrate to external systems for decision support purposes

Soil Scout soil measurement for all turf, fields and crops

Irrespective of whether the application is golf courses, sports fields and stadiums, grass fields or agriculture, the Soil Scouts solution is designed to wirelessly and reliably measure soil characteristics where grass and crop roots are growing - underground. No wires to trip over, no sensors to accidentally damage, just 'set up and forget' access to continuous soil moisture, soil temperature and other data, to drive decision-making and/or automated actions such as irrigation.

Globally, ten's of thousands of Soil Scout Hydra's connected to thousands of Soil Scout Base Stations are achieving benefits which may be verified on a closed loop basis, including:
- Improving turf quality, consistency as well as survivability for agronomists, greenkeepers, grounds persons, and farmers
- Reducing / optimizing use of irrigation, fertilizer, and time to manage turf and crops for all managers
- Optimizing and improving growth and consistency of turf health and crop yields
- Reducing costs through reduced resource utilization, automation, and digital analytics

Soil Scout Hub (Analytics)

The Soil Scout Hub is the 'brains' of the Soil Scout solution. All collected data may be reviewed, analysed against field capacity and water balance, and more, using through a web browser on a mobile or laptop. A REST API enables all data to be exported and/or used for automation purposes such as irrigation.

Soil Scout Hydra

The Hydra sensor or Scout is the 'muscle' of the Soil Scout solution; it does the work of periodically (typically every 55 min) measuring soil moisture, temperature and salinity, from 10 cm to over 2m underground, and transmitting it to the Base Station for up to 20 years. A 'Dual Depth' Sensor option is also available.

Soil Scout Base Station

The solar-powered Base Station is the 'connective tissue' of the Soil Scout solution, collecting data from up to 1,000 Hydra's, and communicating this to the Hub. Not shown is the (Yagi or Omni) receiving antenna and co-axial cable.

Echo Repeater (Optional)

The solar-powered Echo Repeater may be used to 'boost' signals received from the nearest Hydras, up to 10 km away to a receiving base station, extending the serviced area of moisture measurements. These may be 'daisy chained' for extreme requirements.

Complete Soil Scout Solution

The maximum range that a given Hydra can transmit its data is a function of how deeply it's buried, the nature of the soil (Soil Scouts are used in clay, loamy, sandy, and stony soils), moisture in the soil, and the amount of foliage on the ground, as well as the location, antenna gain, antenna height of the receiving antenna, and any natural or artificial clutter (for typical sports turf, ranges of 400m or more may be achieved without an Echo repeater). As part of our solution design, Turf Metrix offers - with the assistance of Soil Scout - a 'Site Design' service to optimize the location and design of a minimum amount of equipment to meet your needs, and make use of existing buildings or structures to do so. Soil Scout Base Stations have even been mounted on tall trees! Once the equipment arrives, it's designed to be installed on a DIY basis (we can provide assistance if needed) - and you are ready to go!

Agdir Farm for digital farm management

With thousands of farms utilizing Agdir Farm today, correlated digital farming information is now available in real-time for decision making support from your mobile or laptop.

Pre-integrated with Soil Scouts (Agdir Farm can be used as a 'like-for-like' substitute for Soil Scout Hub), and satellite-derived data sources such as crop health, yield, and Normalised Difference Vegetation Index [NDVI] and more on a per field/per crop basis, Agdir benefits include:
- Improving crop yields and consistency
- Maximizing arable land use and yields
- Minimizing use of precious resources such as water, fertilizer, and time
- Improved traceability and validation of farming decisions taken.

Agdir functionality is continuously improving, and includes or will include:
- Field modelling and management
- Integrated soil moisture and irrigation management, including weather forecasting, on a per field/crop basis
- Farm journal & task management
- Regulatory compliance (EU only for the moment - ask us what you need for Australia or New Zealand!)
- Inventory Management

In real-time, or on a forecast basis (typically 3-7 days in advance), use Agdir's integrated soil measurement, weather conditions, and forecasts to decide what you need to do next, in what order of priority, for each field, crop, and type of soil on your farm.

Tank Measurement

S2J's Multi-Tank Sensor System may be used with WiFi, mobile or satellite communications technology to accurately and safely measure tank-stored liquids of all types (e.g. potable water, waste water, sewage and offal, diesel and petrol, and liquid fertilizers) for up to 8 tanks simultaneously, using pressure and/or radar-based sensors. Sensors can be powered by battery (life time of 2 years+), solar panels, or both.

Sensor data is gathered on an encrypted basis by a centralized logger, which sends collected data to a cloud-based centralized server. This centralized logger may be utilized to collect data from any sensor or even third party device that has an ability to communicate sensor data.

All collected data may be securely accessed through a web browser-based portal available on mobile or laptop, and an API is available to integrate the MTSS solution to external parties and systems, to enable further analytical correlation, and manual or automated decision making and actions, such as irrigation, or just-in-time ordering of additional water or fuel.

S2J is continuously evolving the sensors and solutions addressable by the MTSS solution, this is likely to require a website update soon!

The MTSS centralized logger is contained in an environmentally robust, industrialized housing. Up to 8 external sensors, supporting all types of telemetry, can be added on a water- and dust-proof basis, to support reliable measurements
